Fashion Beauty Friend Fri… Er, Sunday: Body Image

No judgements, but I have fallen all the way off with my FBFF questions. They are supposed to be posted every Friday but I really liked these questions and wanted to answer them anyway.

Even though it is now Sunday.

1. Since you started blogging has your image of yourself changed?

My image of myself has changed actually. You know how small dogs don’t know their size? I was like that kind of, like, I knew what my body type was before blogging. But consistently (well, I try to) photographing myself in my outifts has given me a better idea of how things look on and how to choose more flattering clothing.

2. Are you self-conscious about any aspect of yourself? If so, do you go out of your way to avoid it or do you post it/talk about it anyway?

I am self-conscious about my skin and my weight. I don’t shy away from the fact that I don’t have perfect skin, or posting pictures of my face in the middle of a break-out (I do apologize for that).

I am self-conscious about my weight because I’m so tiny. It is often the first thing people point out when they meet me. I hope this doesn’t come off as insensitive but I feel like someone would never do that to a heavier person. I also feel like skinny people are looked at as “evil” for being small, like I wasn’t born this way. Like everyone gets all up in arms when someone talks about a heavier persons weight, but you wouldn’t think twice about saying she needs a sandwich. How do you know I don’t eat? For the record, I do. Quite a bit….

3. Based on how you are feeling now, what do you think the future

holds in the evolution of your body image?

I am quite please with myself! I think the future is bright in the evolution of my body image. I am accepting of my flaws and love myself anyway.

4. Do you photograph yourself for your blog? If so, how do you feel about the experience when you’re having your picture taken? If you choose not to post pictures of yourself, what prompted that decision?

I do photograph myself for my blog. I know my neighbors think something is wrong with me, running in front the of camera to pose before the self-timer goes off. But when someone else does it (usually my mom) I feel like I over-direct. Or we have to do a million different shots because I had something specific in mind and I do a bad job at explaining my vision. So it’s probably just easier for me to do it myself because I can retake them as many times as necessary without offending anyone. Even though, my neighbors probably think I’m crazy.

Which I am, for my blog LOL

5. What would you want every person who struggles with body image to take to heart?

No one is perfect but you work toward accepting the very things that you wish were different. And in the meantime you put in the work to change whatever it is you don’t like, whether it’s working out, wearing heels, or dressing differently to give you the results you want.
