Christian Louboutin’s Fall 2011 Lookbook is Literally a Piece of Art

I have seen many a pair of Christian Louboutins and thought to myself, that looks like art– I would never want them to touch the ground! Well, Christian Louboutin took shoes as art to a whole ‘nother level!

He worked with photographer Peter Lippman to recreate some iconic portraits for his Fall 2011 lookbook, like Portrait d’une negress originally painted by Marie-Guillemine Benoist in 1800.

The original was painted 6 years after slavery was abolished, and became the symbol of free black women.

How can you not love that, and Mr. Louboutin for including this in his lookbook?

Keep reading to see the original.
