Do You

Do You

I wore a chambray shirt, silk shorts *and* flats (gasp!) my last day at Fashion Week.

I usually despise the phrase, ‘Do you.’ I always picture someone like Evelyn from Basketball Wives screeching, “Do you booboo, do you!”

And I’m like what else would I be doing? I don’t need you to tell me that.

But I noticed every single time I would get dressed during Fashion Week, I would doubt myself. Is this cute enough? Should I wear something dressier?

Which is so unlike me, because usually when it comes to my style, I “do me.”

I remember back in February before I went to Fashion Week for the first time, my mentor called me and told me to relax. “You earned your right to be there, you have something to offer too,” she said. “Don’t let those tall glamazons (and she wasn’t referring to the models) make you doubt yourself.”

I repeated this to myself a million times. My outfit was cute, my hair–though frizzy– would do. I was being true to my sense of style, so that made my outfit perfect.

So remember. Always, do you. I’m sure your perfect as you are.

Corny, but true 🙂
