7 Reasons To Join Pinterest

7 Reasons To Join Pinterest

I have a new obsession– Pinterest.

Its like a cyber vision board version of Tumblr minus all those creepy write in thingies.

You can ‘pin’ pictures, articles, or videos to a designated board for future reference and you share it with your followers.

And I can’t get enough. Seriously. I have a really weird relationship with Social Media. I love it (duh, I blog) but Twitter and Facebook turn me all the way off sometimes with the over-sharing and the woe-is-me rants.

But Pinterest is great. Let me tell you why.

1. You Can Start A Vision Board

I am a huge believer in vision boards/books. Visualizing your goals on the regular help you remember your priorities so you can achieve them. I enjoy actually cutting up magazines and manually creating them but if that’s not your thing you can pin! I have 13 different boards as of right now that are an extension of what I have on my vision book/in my book.

2. Inspiration Is Everywhere

Sometimes when I can’t think of ideas for stories to pitch, I browse through what everyone else has pinned. You’re bound to find inspiration somewhere.

3. How-To Guides Galore

Recently, I tried my hand at making a bow tie necklace. It has inspired me to see what other craftiness I can get into. Pinterest has tons of DIY how-tos, recipes, html guides, and all kind of tutorials.

4. Discover New Sites

Everything that is shared on Pinterest in linked back to where it originated, you could discover a new blog or photography site. I know that I have.

5. It’s An Easy Way To Be Social
All you have to do is pin something. You don’t even have to add your own images or articles. I feel like a social media presence over multiple platforms is required now. This platform by far is the easiest for me to keep up with (Tumblr’s not bad either).

6. As A Blogger It’s An Easier Way To Share Content

One pin could get you numerous clicks or page views on existing content. Considering that you probably write out a blog post or two just about everyday, uploading a photo is a piece of cake.

7. You Can Connect With People Who Share Your Interests

If you wanted to look at nothing but boards of nail polish you could do that. If you wanted to dream up all the places you will travel, you can do that too. You can follow the pinners you know or who’s boards inspire you.

Have I sold you yet? Will you join me in my obsession? Are you already on Pinterest? Tell me! I want to follow you.

Oh, and if you aren’t I can send you an invite if you like. 🙂

    The Absent Game

Concerning me and my husband we have owned much more MP3 gamers through the years than I can count, such as Sansas, iRivers, iPods (basic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few decades I’ve settled down to one line of players.
