Here on The City, we are all about cultivating personal style, luckily, we can look to some of our favorite celebrities for a few style lessons.

Have you seen the show Empire Girls that comes on The Style Network? Let me tell you, if you haven’t seen it. You’re missing out. The show follows two friends–Adrienne Bailon (right) and Julissa Bermudez (left)–as they try to make their dreams come true in New York City. Totally up my alley!

I like how down-to-earth the girls are. They’re not doing anything extra (VH1 reality show this is not) or claiming to be perfect on the show but they areinspiring and well-dressed.Adrienne’s style speaks the most to me because she isn’t afraid to have fun with it. Here are five style lessons that we can learn from Adrienne Bailon.

1. Wrap It Up
I’ve been looking for inspiration on what to do with my hair in this heat while it’s straight. Once it’s dirty, that’s it for me. On the show, Adrienne is always wearing a turban or some kind of cute head wrap that makes me feel like I can pull one off, too. Would you?

2. Like A Boy
I love how you can tell Adrienne’s mood by how she’s dressed. While she usually looks girly, she has her moments when she looks like a pretty boy. Like with her beanie above. You guys know that I enjoy adding boyish elements to my outfits too, so I like when she does this.

3. Adorn Yourself
Word to Miguel. Adrienne always has really great accessories on. Interesting earrings, a drool-worthy bag or pair of shoes. It seems like every time she gets dressed, it’s a special occasion and she treats it as such. Do you? Just le-le-let your accessories adorn you. Hehe, I couldn’t help it.

4. …Orgasm Blush, Lipstick and Concealer

5 points if you remember where that line came from. But it’s cool to enjoy makeup. Just because you wear it does’t mean your insecure or you’re trying to hide something. You just might enjoy being a woman who wears it. Which is the feeling I get from Adrienne and Julissa. There was one scene where they each took turns using airbrush makeup on each other before they went on dates and I thought it was the cutest thing ever. Annd, Adrienne is serious about her manicures. I can appreciate that. What are your feelings on makeup?

5. Breakin’ All The Rules

I really enjoy people who, when they get dressed, seem to throw on whatever makes them happiest in that moment. Like Adrienne did above with thoseahhmazing shoes and the cute socks. All of her outfits always have so much personality, I think that’s what I’m trying to say. What can you do to inject personality in yours?
