I’m Back. And, I’m Gelin’

I’m Back. And, I’m Gelin’

Hey, yall! Remember me? Really short girl? Big smile? In love with sequins?

Since we last talked: our president is still black, I was featured on Refinery29, in their Real Girl’s Guide to Transitioning, we celebrated Thanksgiving (hopefully not trampling anyone the next day) and it snowed. Oh, and I’m almost finished moving into our new blog home here on WordPress.

Truuuuuust and believe we will talk about what the hold up was. But first, in addition to being super excited about being able to wear my cape again, check out my nails:

They’re Sally Hansen Insta-Gel Strips! I’ve been attached to my computer even more than usual trying to clean up that incompetent web designer’s work and I like having a little something nice to look down at.

You apply them like you would any other nail strips–find the size closest to your finger nails, peel the backing off, apply and file the excess off.

Then comes the fun part, apply a thiiiiiin layer of gel (that comes in the box) over top off all of your nail stickers. I like to apply the gel to one hand at a time leaving the thumbs for last. Sally Hansen is really changing the game with the drying part. Next, you stick your finger in the cute little dryer–that also comes in the box–for 30 seconds and then move on to the next until all of your nails are ‘cured’ or dried.

Lastly, use the alcohol wipe to get rid of the leftover goo. You’re left with super shiny nails, and it my case, a leopard print that ‘s been holding strong for a week. Minus the new growth starting to peek out of the bottom of the strip, it’s all good in my hood. No chips, still gleaming like they were when I did them for Thanksgiving.

By far the easiest gel manicure I’ve given myself.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, how do you like my hat? When I left my grandparents, my grandfather’s hat left with me and plate of cake to go. Boo to me for not noticing that string hanging until now, though.

It looks nice with my nails, hmm?

I really have missed you all–and blogging. There are only a few more things that need twerkin’ um, tweaking, and then things will be back to a normal posting schedule. But I just wanted to pop in, say heyyy, and tell you all about my nails 🙂

Sally Hansen’s Salon Insta-Gel Strips™ is a breakthrough, 2 step chip-resistant gel manicure that lasts up to 2 weeks. Exclusive to Sally Hansen, you can get a fast and easy gel manicure in 2 Easy Steps! Just simply peel and apply.  The gel top coat provides a durable manicure and nails appear flawless and shiny for up to 2 weeks.  The UV-cured real nail polish appliqués that are nourished with additives such as Vitamin E and they are removed with Acetone polish remover in 5 minutes.

I was wondering where you were. Love the new look! Ok nail lacquer and nail art twin, I will have to try this. I was eyeing it in Walgreens but was a little iffy about trying it.

Re, you were my first comment on the very new site 🙂 Thank you! I can see you doing some awesome nail art with the Sally Hansen strips and polish combined! I definitely think you should give it a try, I was a little iffy myself after some of the reviews I read but I haven’t had any problems at all and it’s been a week.

Thank you, Reny! The bottom skyline needs some help but we’re almost there! The box with the dryer, gel top coat, strips, orange stick and nail file are $25. While the box with the strips and gel top coat is $13 and there is always a coupon around.

So I saw the SH Gel set in Target the other day. I’m always willing to try new nail stuff you know. DIdn’t realize you needed like the LED portion& I had only bought the strips. ehh. After I realized I just took it back to the store. lol $25/$30 bucks for that led light that works one nail at a time was just too much =/  Besides I saw other reviews that weren’t favorable.

How long did they last for you?

    • Channing in the City
      Posted at 20:39h, 02 December

Yeah, I tried to do the strips with an old LED light that I had from another gel manicure set and it didn’t work well with it. Maybe get the nail polish set? That one comes with a big light that you can stick your whole hand into. I’m assuming since both products are Sally Hansen you can interchange the lights.

The strips are still on right now.  I’m too lazy to soak them off. I thought I could peel them off–horrible I know–nope, that didn’t work. So I’ll have to soak them off. It would have been two weeks on Wednesday I had them on.
