I have a crush. A completely random, one, too. Not only because it isn’t one I can or want to act on but because I’m not particularly attracted to this person. Like, he wears braids. In 2013.

But, every interview that I’ve ever read made me feel like I know him, like he’s someone that I’d like to know. Isn’t that funny? The power of words? I’m sure it says more about the author than the subject but, I’m a writer and words are sexy. So I guess that sort of translates to dude? And his braids?

You know what I mean?

So now, I think homeboy is cute.

The kicker for me was reading an interview that he did with the site, Mr. Porter. He was asked if he wanted to start a clothing line because he has such an interest in high fashion, and good taste, so naturally when you get a little fame people actually assume that you want to capitalize on that. He doesn’t, though.

“I don’t want to,” he said. “It would be disrespectful to take my stardom and bully my way into the fashion industry, because I didn’t go to [fashion] school to learn about design, sketching and fabrics. I just enjoy it; I’m a consumer.”

I mean what?? You hear that Kanye?

He also doesn’t feel the need to drip in diamonds or spend money on a whole bunch of cars. Before you join me in a chorus of he’s peeeeerfect, just remember, he has braids. He also referred to his lady friends as “b*tches.” No good in my book.

But it’s just a shameless anonymous crush, though, right?
