If we’re being truthful, and we are, I haven’t really been as on it as I used to be pre-New York when it comes to my nails. I could give you a whole bunch of excuses but I won’t.

I remember when I complained in front of my now-defunct Brooklyn Boy that it was too soon for him to see me give myself a mani and pedi, but that I didn’t have time to go to the salon, he told me it’s because I was grinding. That made me smile and realize that I don’t have to look perfect all the time, well, my nails, anyway. But chipped polish is never chic so, I’m bringing back Perfectly Polished. It will inspire me to have weekly mani time again.

I’m coming back with the Mercedes Benz of polish brands. Chanel and Deborah Lippmann.

Chanel Mysterious is a deep forest green. I have a slight obsession with dark green polishes on my nails and before I met this color, Here Today, Argon Tomorrow was my fall staple. I always wished that you could tell the color was more green though. And not just in direct sunlight. Then Mysterious came into my life.

I seem to be of the mindset that I rather look interesting than ‘stylish’ or ‘trendy’ which basically results in me breaking a lot of rules, mixing metals, wearing black and brown, you know, that sort of thing. And it’s trickled down into my accent nail choices. I chose to highlight my left pointer and thumb with Deborah Lippmann’s Glitter and Be Gay and my right ring and pinky nail with the same. I like a little nail bling when I’m banging away at the computer. Plus, I finally have branched out into midi rings.

I like the combo of different looking accent nails with the rings. And with that, I’m perfectly polished. Same time next week? What’s on your nails?
