I’m not sure if I just normally dress young or what, but yesterday everyone kept telling me that I looked like a grown up. The funny thing is, I’ve been itching to start switching up my style, I just wasn’t sure in what way. And then I had a vision as I pushed my cart in T.J. Maxx. I wanted to recreate a look that I saw on Teen Vogues’s editor-in-cheif Amy Astley as I covered her magazine’s #FashionU.

She was wearing what appeared to be a sweater over a graphic print dress, what Topshop’s creative director Kate Phelan deemed, very Givenchy. So I was on a mission. I wanted to mix prints and if they were French brands, all the better.

You guise. 

I am in head to toe T.J. Maxx. I would be lying if I said I didn’t think I looked luxe. I guess that’s where the comments about me looking like a grown-up came from. Even my corner boyfriend–Darryl who works at Verizon on the, wait for it, corner–thought my #glamstyle finds were kind-of impressive. “That’s a hit, Shannon!”

Nevermind that I have told him three different times that my name is Chaaaaanning. I’ve just given up. But I will say this, I love T.J. Maxx’s The Runway department. I went early on a Sunday and the store was organized and fully stocked. I was so impressed by the first location, that I was inspired to head to a second location in search of more luxe French brands.

And boy, did they have them. Super high-end brands for just a fraction of the ticketed price. Not just fashion brands, either. Every. single. time. I’m in T.J. Maxx, I’m impressed at the selection of salon-quality nail polishes (design kits,too!) and fragrances. I spent like an hour in the cosmetics section sniffing out all of the fall offerings–a very successful trip if I may say so myself.

Mission accomplished, I’d say. I loved mixing textures and colors and prints. It all seemed so, very, I don’t know, French. Like I could picture Carine Roitfeld wearing something similar.

I’m not mad at it.

p.s. I may or may not have yolo’d and booked a trip to Paris (London and Spain) with my girls for the upcoming holiday break, expect this entire outfit to make the trip–kind of perfect to channel Carine in Paris, no?
