New York is a funny place.

Wearing: H&M Cropped Sweatshirt, Zara Leather Midi Skirt, Christian Dior Suede Pumps (a TJ Maxx find!), Old Navy Camo Jacket, Tibi Clutch, All BaubleBar Necklaces

I wondered how my style would change living here. And it has, I wear a lot more black. And a lot, I mean a lot, of faux leather. Maybe you’ve noticed? But I also think that it speaks to my personality better than it ever has. I’m sure that has something to do with the fact that I’ve never been more clear about who I am as a person.

Even with access to just about everything that you could ever want, I know that I am not a person who looks to labels to define me. There’s this weird thing I’ve noticed: a couple people I’ve met recently have amazing wardrobes full of pieces that would make just about anyone envious–but they’re struggling. They aren’t living comfortably despite the appearances their stylish threads imply. Or they’re lonely. Pretty sad, huh?

I may not have everything that I want but I won’t go in debt to get it. I much rather let the things that I’m most proud of, like my morals, my relationships and my blog (though, I’ve been neglecting it) speak for me. And if I can afford to pay rent and buy a leather moment at Zara, well, that’s just dandy.

I mean, at least, that way, the only thing faux about me, is the faux leather (or fur) that I seem to favor so much.

    I must say I love designer stuff and my shopping philosophy is more about rewarding my hardwork with a lust item! I don’t shop often but I treasure what I buy. I suppose as long as you remain true too yourself that’s all that matters…

      I’m all about rewarding handwork, Christy, I just don’t want that to be all that I have. But I agree, as long as you stay true to yourself that’s all that matters.

    That is so true! I know a lot of folks (mainly women) who like to keep up appearances…A lot of people still haven’t realized that labels do not equal style. I love a high end item, but I am with you, not trying to rob Peter to pay Paul just to get it! Lol
