I got an accidental--well, let's say unplanned--haircut today. I know I was just complaining about not being able to handle my roots while transitioning out my relaxer.

I love my hair again. All I needed was a clarifying shampoo, conditioning treatment and a good blowout. But now, I've lost my length.

:(

It was dead hair that made my hair look dirty when it was clean. Do you know what I mean? When your hair never hangs right because it needs trimmed? Welp, that's gone now. It had to go but isn't crazy how attached we can be to our hair?

Anyway. I took my haircut like a G in a DKNY cozy. You know the sweater that you can wear fiftylven different ways?

And then headed into J.Crew because, well, I'm a J.Crew groupie and I needed my fix. Sigh, don't you wish life was like a J.Crew catalog?

The countdown's on until 2012!

Quick sad story, in September, I accidentally deleted my entire iPhoto library trying to make space on my computer.

All of my college pictures, my earliest blog pictures, that vacation with that boy, everything, gone

And though I wanted to cry, a lot of my memories from the past two years (just about) have been documented in some way here, on this blog.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to share bits and pieces of my life with friends  (new and old) and family all over the world. Today, I just want to take a minute to share seven of my favorite moments on this blog that weren't necessarily fashion/beauty related.

Let me tell you all why I love you. You let me grow and the feedback has been wonderful.

I started doing '5 Style Lessons' because it helped me create original content every week that forced me to pinpoint what we can take from the person's style and prove it with pictures. Plus, it was a great opportunity to work on my collage skills.

I'm so glad that you all enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed creating it. So, as we get ready to say goodbye to 2011, let's take a minute to remember the ladies who's style we couldn't get enough of (based on the convos in the comments).

Ladies, I just want to say thank you to everyone who entered the cutey charm bracelet giveaway. I was so nervous that no one would enter and the contest ending up receiving so many entries.

:)

So the time has come announce the winners. Drum roll plleeeeasse....

This year was an amazing year of growth for me. This became evident to me when I read this blog's archives. Not only has this blog gotten progressively better but so has my sense of style.

I have embraced trends that I used to be scared to wear. Things I never thought that I could pull of like red lips and top knots. And those trends that I loved? I loved them haaard.

You may have noticed my love for chambray?

There are quite a few other trends that I loved hard this year. Care to see?

I'm a nail polish h*e and everyone knows. 2011 was a good year for nail polish er, lovers, and I.

One of the highlights of my nail polish lovin' life was the opportunity to speak with Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI's Co-founder before the start of New York Fashion Week in September.

I had so much fun trying out different trends on my nails. Like now for instance, I am matching my tips to my lips red nails. As for the others, well, well let's just say there are mani memories.

See what I did there? Let's take a look!

I need yall to know something. Remember when I was told you I was growing out my relaxer? Yeah.

Ish just got real.

What I'm about to say may sound a little spoiled so forgive me, but Saturday night was the first time in a loooong time, that I did my hair myself.

And it was a process. There is about four months worth of new growth sitting on the top of my scalp and for some reason, I thought I could wash it, blow it out, and then pin curl it.

I used to be so good at doing my hair myself. But when I unpinned it Sunday morning for church, it was a holy hot grandma looking mess! Back to a bun, I suppose.

Siiiigh.

Now. About the shoes.

I usually try not to dress head to toe in the same brand, I feel like it's so predictable. And then there is the off chance that you walk into a store wearing them head to toe, all the employees are like, 'I wonder where that girl likes to shop?' LOL!

Well, I was that girl today in head to toe J.Crew.

My coat saved me though.

You know what is underrated? Peace of mind.

Being at peace with yourself and life. Now, that makes me feel chic and confident.

Too bad, I haven't had peace of mind this week! Ha!

I'm totally kidding. Kind-of.
