In my mind, me and Lauren Conrad go way back. We've grown up together, if you will. She's a stylish 'friend in my head' whose style I am constantly trying to recreate.

I loved her on Laguna Beach. Loved her even more on The Hills. I was sad when she left, but glad to see her branch out with her own clothing line(s), new site The Beauty Department and now, a makeup line!

Let me tell you a secret, I re-watched the entire Hills series on Netflix-- like, yesterday. The whole time I took note of LC's style evolution that I decided to share with you in five style lessons.

1. Create a signature something

Quick! When you think of Lauren Conrad, what do you think of? I think of amazing winged liner and gorgeous accessories. You'll see throughout the rest of this post, she has a signature style that is hard to ignore.

What do you want to be known for?

2. Figure out your best feature-- and do it to death

Lauren Conrad obviously realizes that one of her best features is her long legs and she shows them off all the time. I meeeean, when your legs look as amazing as hers, why hide them?

What's your best feature? Show it off!

3. Waist Not...

Defining your waist is usually one of the best things a woman can do. If you're already curvy, a wider belt draws attention to your hourglass shape. If you're lacking in the curves like I am, a skinny belt tricks the eye into thinking your are curvier. Score!

4. Your bags and shoes? They matter.

I am a firm believer that your bag and shoes make the outfit. Buy the highest quality shoes and bag you can afford. The quality is in the details: the hardware, material and wear of the bag. It won't matter if your actual outfit was super cheap because the right accessories could make it look expensive.

Not to say that I don't love $5 bags-- because I do. I had one and wore it to death. Literally, below is a picture someone not so nicely tagged to me on Facebook after they stole the bag. Please, don't judge me. I have since retired it.

Moral of the story? Choose quality accessories. I don't want this to be you.

This was the backside of the bag-- the front was perfectly fine!
Moving right along!

5. Your nails are accessories, too

Clearly, I wasn't going to leave you all and not mention LC's nails. Her nails are always painted. No matter whether the color is fun or edgy, the polish is always glossy and I love it.

Do you consider your nails an accessory? You should!

What do you think of Lauren's style? Do you miss The Hills, too?

Lauren does have great style! I've always been fond of her winged liner, but could never master it. A lot of people don't take quality into consideration; those are 2 major facts for me when I shop for shoes, handbags & clothes. Great post!

Awesome post with great things to think about - Gonna have to re-post this one! I love winged liner too, almost to the point that it could be my signature. I am not a big LC fan but she definitely does have great, safe, classic style.

@ Chellany I really want her book! I think I'll have to go pick that one up ASAP

@ Serena LOL, I don't still own that I retired it like two years ago. I was so sad, me and Jason had a service for it and everything. I wish I could find another bag that color :-/
