Blair is lovely to watch on screen if you don't count the manipulative schemes she is always cooking up. I love re-watching old episodes just to take note of Blair's growth as a character and her style.
And each time, I notice something that I should work into my way of dressing. Like what you ask? Hit the jump, pretty please.
How many of you ladies actually sleep in pajamas? Like something pretty that you wouldn't mind answering the door in and wouldn't be embarrassed? Not me.
My favorite thing to sleep in is a huge pair of sweatpants with nail polish stains on them. They're the really ugly kind too, with the elastic bottoms (except I walk with my feet in the bottom, stretching the elastic, so they're even uglier) but every time I see Blair getting out of bed, I tell myself I will wear pretty pajamas one day.
Sometimes, tights get a bad wrap. They can be grandma-ish or boring, but that is never the case with Blair's tights. She makes wearing patterned tights look cool. No more greasing up your legs to brave the cold because you don't want to ruin your outfit with grandma tights-- at least for me, anyway.
Remember when a coat was something practical that you just threw on for warmth? And the minute you got to wherever you were going you took it off? Yeah, make a statement with your coat. Let it look like it was intentional it works with the rest of your look. You might not even want to take it off, if it looks anything like Blair's blue coat.
Blair's clothing always fits to a T. Every time I watch Gossip Girl, I'm reminded of the pile of clothing hanging inside my closet door waiting to be tailored so I can wear it.
Key word being think. One of my absolute Kanye West lyrics is, "You can still be who you wish is, it ain't happen yet, and that's what intuition is." Blair is a good example of this. She dresses for the life style she is trying to create for herself.
When she was in Paris, she wore lots of French designers like Chanel. Now that's engaged to a prince, she dresses like she feels a future princess should look. She has a minor obsession with Audrey Hepburn and even dreams in fashion films. I loved when she was working at W and thought she would be a fashion editor, she dressed edgier than normal.
Who are you? What are you trying to create with your life? Does you style reflect that?
Am I alone in my love of Ms. Blair? Who's your favorite Gossip Girl character (I do miss Raina)?
ps- Who else is still hoping Blair will end up with Chuck again now that he's good?
