7 Reasons I'm Having A Love Affair With Oil 01/26/2012
I know that we typically don't discuss skin care on here. Well, that's because I am still trying to figure out what works for me. But one thing that's working for me, believe it or not, is oil and it's several uses. This is surprising for numerous reasons, the first and most important being that I have an oil slick for a face. So obviously, it wouldn't make sense to put oil anywhere near my face. Or so I thought. It all started back at the Nordstrom Cosmetic Trend Show. I learned that drying out your skin kicks your skin into overtime trying to hydrate itself with oil. Don't be alarmed, but let's talk science for a minute. Remember back in school when we learned that the oil dissolves oil? So what better way to get oil off your face than oil? Yeeah, oil has done wonder for my skin. Let me tell you how.
Hi. I'm Channing and I'm surprisingly in love with oil. I'm sure, I'm late to the party on this, what oils are you ladies loving? CommentsChanning in The City 01/26/2012 12:38pm
Oh, jojoba! I'll have to look into that. I've heard good things about it. I take it isn't too heavy if you can wear it under your eyes. Sounds good to me!

Lovin' Laura Mercier purifying cleansing oil!! I too learned at the 2011 Fall Nordstrom Fall Cosmetic Trend Show from Laura Mercier Global Make-up Artist, Jarvis Johnson that oil is great for your skin even if you have oily skin.

Really?! I'll definitely invest in some of this. You think I would have known that, my Grandma used to slick it all over me after a bath--and I hated it. Now look at me, LOL!

Oh yes oil is a MUST for me. I swear by olive! I usually buy a bug container and split it half for the kitchen half for the bathroom. I have heard about cleansing with oil. Makes sense.

Olive seems to be the oil to have! Now, that you've said it, it is a good a idea to spilt have between the kitchen and bathroom.

Channing, olive oil is a must, both for hair and ur skin. Also I would highly recommend organic coconut oil for hair and body. It has done wonders for my natural hair!!!

Yes really!!! If u have a whole foods store anywhere in sight, go in and buy the big jar of organic coconut oil. I use it on my hair every morning and I have seen huge change + growth :-) Channing in The City 01/29/2012 4:24pm
Sadly, Esta, my little town isn't cool enough for a Whole Foods. We do have a Wegmans, though, and they have a pretty good selection of organic foods and products, so I am going to check there. Channing in The City 01/28/2012 7:02pm
Thanks, Taliah! I'm so excited to try out coconut oil after hearing all these rave reviews for it!

Isn't it amazing how science works! I wash my face with warm water to open the pores and rinse with cold water to close my pores. You never know whats trapped in that clean face towel, bacteria and dirt could creep back into the pores preventing the serums from working effectively.

I agree! You never know! Michelle, do you use a Clarisonic? That helps get the bacteria out of your pores, too.
