I realize the timing of this post might be vaguely inappropriate considering what the once gorgeous Lisa Turtle did to herself. Seriously, where are Lark Voorhies' friends? I think it's time for them to gather 'round and take a knee.

Lightening up discolorations is okay, your whole face--not so much. And our friends at Ambi want to help.

I haven't made it a secret here of my skin troubles but now that I seem to be on the road to clear skin, I need to handle the pesky discolorations that pimples leave behind. I know for me, that can be the worse part about breaking out.
...Leaving behind evidence that your skin does what it feels like. So when I got the chance to try Ambi's skincare line determined to eliminate dark spots and create and even skin tone, I didn't waste any time playing around.

And while the line is nice: a foaming cleanser and a moisturizer, the real star of the show is the fade cream. I apply the fade cream all over my face and then go about my nightly routine (one day, I'll share this in full).

You know how you never notice something until someone points it out? The last time I wore this blouse--which I love--someone told me I looked like a Dr. Seuss character.
Something about I wear a lot of different textures all together. And now, I'm like is that true?

It was on Saturday when I went to a really nice brunch with my mom, aunt and Grandma.

I wore a silk blouse, silk-ish shorts and calf hair loafers. Pullease, Dr. Seuss characters could never.

I am such a firm believer that one of the most important relationships that we can have in life is with our parents. We learn so much from them but it isn't always because of the words that come out of their mouths.

But what they do when they're not preaching at you that makes all the difference.

And giving you the space to grow, make mistakes and come back when life knocks you back on your butt.

That's my mom for me.
Our relationship hasn't always been easy. Remember high school, Mom?

No matter what mistakes my brother or I have made (or continue too) she's there. Always ready with a hug, prayer, money or a swift side-eye should we get out of hand.

My mom always gets me into the weirdest things. Like volunteer house-sitting for a Junior League fundraiser.

But I do know that I woudn't mind living in this house with my husband and family that I don't have.

It even has a barn! The children could have horsies!

The house is finished being revamped yet but the grounds are beeeeyouutiful!
Perfect for showing off my favorite skirt. You remember that yellow one I wore all last summer don't you?

Yall know that music runs my world. I usually have a random song stuck in my head and I enjoy screaming crispy chicken (remember that Mary J. Blige commercial?) at my family.
The minute I slipped my feet into these Kelsi Dagger Leopard Loafers, that Rick Ross' London Skit from his Rich Forever starting playing.

'Specially the part, 'Followed by the loafers.'

The skit is only fitting considering that the loafers make me feel luxurioussss.

Yellow might be one of my favorite colors to wear. Something about it makes people so happy and you feel better wearing it.

Well, that's how I felt wearing NARS Amchoor on my nails. While I loved the entire NARS x Thakoon collaboration, the yellow caught my eye first.

All of my yellows are difficult and I've never tried a NARS polish so I was hoping this one would be different.

Mission accomplished! Me and Amchoor here will be great friends this summer. The first coat was a little streaky but after three it was perfection that was creamy and shiny once it dried.
p.s., the song playing is India.Aerie's Yellow. Where has she been? I miss her.

My smile is the result of 12 years of thumb sucking (let my dad tell it, I started five minutes after I was born), 3 years of braces, and two surgeries--three if you count wisdom teeth.

But never a cavity.

I say all this to say that my teeth know pain.
But that wasn't the case with Rembrandt's Stain Dissolving Strips. And get this, not only do they dissolve the stains on your teeth but those babies dissolve on your teeth in about 15 minutes!

They didn't make my teeth super sensitive like the last time I tried a set of whitening strips, either. Though, I will admit, I forgot a day and had to double up and I felt a slight tingle in my gums.

I can pretend that my backyard is the beach as long as I pack the perfect 'beach' bag.

A hat to protect my face from the sun, a water bottle, bathing suit to really get  the mood going, sunscreen for my face/body and reading material.

Then the backyard actually seems like the beach. Pretend with me.

Please?

So I kiiiind-of look like Einstein here with the mountain of curls on my head but I'm super excited for clean hair.

I think it's time that I enter a treatment program for people who can't stop wearing striped shirts.

But they make me feel Parisian.

I love the shirt with the blazer. And those shorts make me happy. So do those Minnetonkas.

Actually, I really like this outfit. It makes me happy and was super fitting for Saturday. It was a really--long but still--good day.

Do you have a few pieces that you know you should give a breather but can't seem to just leave them in the closet?

Here on The City, we are all about cultivating personal style, luckily, we can look to some of our favorite celebrities for a few style lessons.
I have such a crush on Cameron Diaz. I mean, she'e always been cute but for some reason, I'm just noticing how cute and stylish she is. It's like she isn't allowed to take a role that isn't well dressed.

I will watch the most random movies as long as she's in it and I can take note of what she's wearing. For instance, What Happens In Vegas is a movie that I will watch ever single time it's on. I finally saw Bad Teacher and loved it--of course--but it just cemented my theory that she is always just as well dressed on the big screen as she is off.

In fact, there are five style lessons that we can take from Cameron's style.
