Here on The City, we are all about cultivating personal style, luckily, we can look to some of our favorite celebrities for a few style lessons. We are coming up on the end of New York Fashion Week, and I thought it would be fun to use actual shows for this week's 'Style Lessons' instead of a celebrity.
From the looks of the collections show during NYFW next Fall/Winter seasons are going to be quite fun and rather whimsical. I'm exciiiited. But for now, we can look to five collections my favorite designers showed for 5 style lessons that we can apply now to use well into the Fall season. 1 Comment Happy Valentine's Day! 02/14/2012
Yes, you shouldn't need a commercial holiday to tell people you heart them but it's nice, right? So, I just know that I heart you. And appreciate you. And wish you a day full of laughter, love, bright lips and glossy nails. This calls for music! Cue one of my favorite Whitney songs: Wasn't Whitney's look in this video everythiiing? Sigh... We know each other pretty well, yes? So you know that I can't get enough of OPI. Like, ever. OPI makes up the majority of my nail polish collection and I am so, so, so excited that OPI is one of the sponsors for Channing in The City's two-year anniversary party. Woot, woot! Will you be there? One of my favorite parts about seeing all of the trends that pump down the runway during New York Fashion Week for the following season, is looking at the models' nail situations.
Last year, I liiiiived for everything that CND did, and this year is no exception. So consider this a special NYFW version of 'Perfectly Polished.' Let's take a look at my favorite nail looks Day 1-4 courtesy of CND. Start getting excited. NCLA is one of the official sponsors for Channing in The City's two-year anniversary party, and I can't wait. Yall know that I liiive for their products especially those nail wraps and now you'll see what all the hype is about if you haven't already. Thanks, NCLA! Are you coming? Dinner With Glam? Yes, Please! 02/11/2012
On Wednesday night, Glam Media invited its publishers for a night of mingling, good conversations and better people. I haven't been a part of the the network for long so this was my first event with Glam. I was nervous--I wasn't sure what to expect or what to wear. And all for nothing! Everyone I had the opportunity to chat with was super nice. I finally met Danielle of The Style & Beauty Doctor. This sounds geeky to say but she was just as gorgeous offline as she is online. I made some new friends and had a chance to see a few of my faves like Renae of In Her Shoes, Abiola Abrams of Abiola TV, Wendy of Nitro:licious and Tia Williams of Shake Your Beauty (didn't you used to liiiive for that blog?). I had great tablemates, too. I sat between Bianca Jade of MizzFit.com (I soo want her to be my big sister) and Lauren Sherman of LuckyMag.com. Oh, and Alison from The Knotty Bride! I will continue to read her site, even as a single girl NOT planning a wedding because she's hilarious.
You Guys. Channing in The City's 2-Year Anniversary Party is shaping up to look like a really fun time thanks to the help of some of my favorite brands. Like Pop Chips! Not only will we have a really good time, but you'll be leaving with even better goodies. :) I'm so exciiiited! Will Popchips and I see you there? 5 Style Lessons Courtesy of Anna Wintour 02/08/2012
Here on The City, we are all about cultivating personal style, luckily, we can look to some of our favorite celebrities for a few style lessons. This is going to sound a little blasphemous considering this is a style blog but Vogue is not one of my monthly must-reads. I don't subscribe and it depends who's on the cover if I pick it up.
I just don't see myself in the fantasy that the glossy is selling. It could be said that the fashion dream that Vogue is selling is supposed to be unattainable and that right there is the point but that's just not for me. I like something inspirational yet attainable. And that brings me to Ms. Anna Wintour. She rules the fashion kingdom yet her style is quite simple. Inspirational, yet attainable. On the eve of New York Fashion Week, let's take a minute to learn five style lessons courtesy of Anna Wintour. #25in25pics 02/07/2012
Well, kind-of. My phone died sometime after dinner. But I wanted to share my 25th birthday with you all in pictures.
:) Go, Channing, It's Your Birthday! 02/06/2012
Today I am 25-years old.
Last year on my birthday, I wrote myself 100 Words To Live By and I decided to do it again this year. I've also decided that I will do #25in25pics on Instagram, but you'll have to like me on Facebook or follow me on Twitter to see those. As I mentioned last year, I'm not claiming to know it all, but this much I do know, in 100 words. You're worth everything you can imagine for yourself, You don't need your dreams validated by anyone else--if you believe. Therein lies the problem. The only thing stopping you is... you. What's it going to be? Are you a dreamer or a do-er? Better, you're doing whatever it takes to make that dream a reality. See the lessons in the failures, The work behind the success. Stay humble yet hungry. Remain grateful. Remember, lighting another candle in no way takes away from your shine. So, be quick to help others. Don't forget to smile. Oh, yeah. :) I'm definitely in my zone. | About Channing:Channing is a Penn State grad hoping to follow her heart, and writing, to New York City. Super short. Obsessed with sequins and nail polish.
