A Fresh Start

Carrie Bradshaw said it best.

“Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future. This is known as New York Fashion Week.”

With the start of New York Fashion Week (next Thursday, in a new venue, at that!), I’m going to extend that newness, here on the blog.

I’ve had a bunch of ideas for the longest, swirling around in my head, tormenting me. I’m constantly looking a job to validate me. While that’s not to say that I don’t deserve to be passionate about the things I do for a living, there is no reason those things can’t happen here, too.

One of the things that stuck out to me when Necole explained to me her vision for xoNecole and how she chose writers for her new venture was she said that everyone had their own site. A place to grow their own voice. She knew that if she could connect with someone when they were writing for themselves, her readers would, too.

I owe it to myself to keep growing. Here on the blog. Writing my way through it (and New York City).

So, with that said, beginning tomorrow you’ll find a refurbished Why Don’t You… a series that is a take on legendary editor Diana Vreeland’s column she wrote for Harper’s Bazaar with industry experts. The first one is with Jonathan Adler (I’m posing at his vacation home in these photos). Those will go up every Tuesday.

Every Wednesday, you’ll find a short video series NY Minute, telling a story about life in the city, in under a minute. On Thursday’s, I’m bringing back style lessons. And you can still expect outfit posts with New York City as the backdrop. Oh, and Off the 6, will happen once a month (like the Dear New York posts).

Wearing: ASOS Shift Dress (knotted inside using this trick!)// Zara Wedges// Marc by Marc Fran Tote//Julie Vos Necklace// Fendi Colorblock Sunglasses

I just owe it to myself to see these things through. I hope you’ll enjoy them.

I’m excited ?

It s so funny that were both wrote this on the same day. You are one of the best writers that I know. I come over to your blog, for the writing. The style is an added fancy bonus. But the wordplay, the way you tell a story. Never give up on that voice. The world needs it. Plus, I get get to live vicariously through your NYC chronicles until I get there. My chocolate Carrie Bradshaw twin. lol

Thank you Birthday Girl! It is funny that we both were feeling similarly. Also, you’re going to make me cry. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I’m going to save this comment to reread on bad days. I’m still waiting for you to come visit. Let’s be chocolate Carrie Bradshaws together!
