I Breathed the Same Air as Karl Lagerfeld!

I Breathed the Same Air as Karl Lagerfeld!

Last Friday night, Fifth Avenue in New York was alive with gorgeous people, even better shoes and a seemingly endless supply of champagne.

What is this I speak of?

Fashion’s Night Out of course.

One of my good friends, another dear soul with a lust for all things fashion and beauty, and I have been plotting our attack for days. We couldn’t decide what neighborhood should get the majority of our time or what shoes were should wear.

I knew we were in for a good time when headed to see what Bergdorf Goodman had going on for the festivities but was met with a line wrapping around the block. Bergdorf Goodman was quickly nay-ed. We never did figure out what was going on in that store. Word on the street, it was singing midgets or something.

We decide to go to the one place that never, I mean never disappoints and that was Tiffany & Co. After walking the yellow carpet to the door and grabbing our yellow creamsicle pop, we enter that magically place.

Two Holly Golightlys greeted us. I’m not quite sure why there needed to be two but that was a photo op that was not to be missed! Tiffany was jamming that night! There was a DJ and a candy bar. The candy bar was the cutest thing I have seen in a long time. They even were giving out necklaces that resembled the huge yellow diamond on display. I went to say hello to my engagement ring on the third floor and then we left to see what else the night had in store for us.

We popped in and out of YSL, Gucci and Dior before heading into Chanel. I decided on the train ride to the city that my mother and I should have one of the limited edition nail polishes created for Fashion’s Night Out. There isn’t any champagne or hor d’oeuvres but that’s ok, it’s Chanel.

For capacity reasons we assumed, we were told that we weren’t allowed to go upstairs and there would be a ten-minute wait. That’s fine. Again, it’s Chanel.

All of a sudden there is literally a huge commotion and the crowd parts like the red sea (in the words of my friend) and who strolls in? Karl Mother-Freaking Lagerfeld! Can you believe it?

I couldn’t and I was definitely mad that I didn’t get my camera out in time to capture Chanel’s rock star designer! My friend had been chatting up one of the lady doing crowd control when she told us we could go upstairs. We didn’t quite make it up the stairs because Mr. Lagerfeld was coming down, and guess what.

I had my camera ready this time! I got the pic! I just wish I could have gotten my nail polish to commemorate the sighting.

After that we were floating on air. That is a fashion lover’s dream come true. I mean, who doesn’t love Chanel. From there were popped in Mulberry and played in glitter, Coach, Diesel, Calvin Klein (where we spied the cutie from all the ads) and into Barney’s.

Barney’s was a party too. People really went all out for their Fashion’s Night Out outfits. I mean, really!

Take these 2 gentlemen for instance, they each worked really hard on their looks. Though the one in the red lipstick told us he rushed through his makeup. It only took him 30 minutes to do. Only in New York.

Which is why I couldn’t think of a more perfect way to celebrate fashion week and with those who might not necessarily be invited to all the fashion shows.

I wish Fashion’s Night Out was every Friday!

    The Absent Game

Amongst me and my husband we have owned a lot more MP3 players over the years than I can count, such as Sansas, iRivers, iPods (common & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few several years I’ve settled down to one line of gamers.
