My love affair with full long lashes started with Aaliyah. I know you’re like ‘Her lashes, she gave us so much more.’ And though songs like “At Your Best (You Are Love), “I Don’t Wanna”, “Choosy Lover”, and “One in a Million,” are still faves in my iTunes, it was Aaliyah’s distinct look that I struck me most growing up.

Those long fluttery eyelashes gave me life! When she finally showed us her eyebrows under ‘the swoop?’ I almost died– she had big, thick ones like mine. I just knew I was too cool.

It’s horrible that she was taken so young at 22 when it looked like she was about to get a name for herself in Hollywood with Romeo Must Die and Queen of The Damned.

However, it must be comforting to her family to see how her life touched so many people.

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years.
