5 Businesses To Support This Saturday

5 Businesses To Support This Saturday

Tomorrow is “Small Business Saturday,” an initiative started ironically by American Express to encourage us to support local small businesses (learn more here).

I love this idea and the excuse to shop. Looking for a small business to support? Here are five small businesses that could use your coins this Saturday.

1. 2 Chic Designs

Cynthia Lawson’s (based out of Philadelphia) created her Etsy shop, 2 Chic Designs in 2003 because she was looking for a beautiful yet practical tote. Enter her store full of handmade clutches, necklaces, totes and children’s clothing! Above is my favorite necklace from her store. Shop here.

ps. The Huff Post Black Voices named her one of must-shop stores this Black Friday!

2. Imperfect Concepts Boutique

I wish so badly that my town had resale shops with quality pieces. Something like Tasha Robinson’s online store, Imperfect Concepts Boutique. Tasha (a friend in my head with gorgeous long hair and vintage drool-worthy accessories) keeps her store full of high-designer pieces priced at a steal. If you are a size 8 pluuuuease buy these Gucci peep toes above. Shop the rest of the store here.

3. Ginger & Liz

You guys know I am all about my nail polish. I love that Ginger Johnson and Liz Pickett created a line of vegan-friendly and toxin-free nail polishes based in New York. There is hue for everyone, literally. I especially love the shade (Blowin’ Money Fast) above. Shop the polishes here.

4. Polish Bar of Brooklyn

Speaking of nails, if your in New York, schedule a mani/pedi at Polish Bar Brooklyn. I interviewed owner Tricia Lee, a while back and she is such a sweetheart! The shop is really cute so grab a girlfriend or two, a Ginger & Liz polish, and get your nails did. See the different locations here.

5. Smanthat House Jewelry

I fell in love with jewelry designer Samantha House after meeting her during NYFW in September. She was super bubbly, not to mention she creates unique jewelry that you won’t see on everyone else– by hand. Like my favorite piece above. You can shop the rest of her collection here.

Will you support any local business owners tomorrow? Perhaps the ones above?

These would make for perfect places to start holiday shopping.
