Cheers, NYC

Cheers, NYC

I’m obsessed with New York’s skyline.

You know this.

Every opportunity I get to take it in, usually catching flies (mouth hanging open), is a reminder that dreams and more specifically, prayers do come true.

I’ve become flaky AF. I’m not going to lie, since leaving Glam, I get anxious when I attend events. I’m grateful to still be on a lot of the same PR lists and get invited to a lot of things for the blog. Which I want to take advantage of but, again, flaky.

I don’t know if it’s like this where you live, but here in New York, people ask what you do before your name. It feeds this culture of what can you do for me, because of whatever logo is on your business card. Until it isn’t.

But I really like Sammi. And the other Sam would be there, too. I hadn’t seen them in a while. American Express was celebrating a partnership with Alexander Wang. There would be champs on a rooftop. My friends would be there.

I decided to rally and go.

Being around young, innovative people was invigorating to me. Taking in the New York skyline, too.

Looking to take the skyline in with drink in hand? Below are my favorite NYC rooftops. Oh, and I’m always looking for new ones, so tell me yours!

I know how you feel. When I was younger going to parties, I faced the same dread. Them: “What do you do?” Me: “Nothing. I’m an assistant making 25K a year. I can barely afford this $12 glass of wine I’ve been cuddling all night long.” Now a little bit older and wiser, I’ve realized, everybody is on a hustle. No one is as together as they seem. The only difference is – they are better at faking it.

You look great! Keep up the hustle 🙂

This message right here: I can barely afford this $12 glass of wine I’ve been cuddling all night long.” But you’re right, everyone has a hustle, sometimes several!
